Circle Drive

Today Brad and I drove a big 120-mile circle drive around Litchfield County. We started at home in the far south of the county, drove northwest and had breakfast in neighboring Roxbury; then we turned north and drove up the western side of the county, shopping in Kent at their town festival, lunching outside in West Cornwall, seeing two covered bridges along the way, and also following the beautiful Housatonic River (Brad was checking out places to go fly fishing and kayaking - there are lots and they're amazing). At just about the northernmost point in Connecticut in Canaan we were only a couple of miles from Massachusetts. From there we turned east, then eventually south, and headed home. All in all it was a beautiful day. Here are some highlights:
Covered bridge at Bulls Bridge, which is south of Kent.
These are the rapids we saw while standing on Bulls Bridge.
The covered bridge at West Cornwall is quite long. It's adjacent to a cute little town.
This church is just outside of Norfolk. You can get an idea for the kind of hills that are here. They are quite high, especially by our Midwest standards.
You never know who you'll see in Connecticut!
