Flashback Friday

It's not quite New Year's, but in a couple of days it will be, and that means it's almost time for Stanford's bowl game. It's not as big of a bowl game as some Stanford fans in our house would have liked it to be (if only they had beaten Oregon), but still it's not bad. Brad and I first met at a Stanford sporting event, so literally from the moment I met him I knew what a devoted fan he was. This is why, after years of being terrible at football, when Stanford finally made it to the Rose Bowl back in 2000 (this was pre-BCS, when the Rose Bowl meant the same thing to the same people every year) the kids and I surprised our favorite Stanford alum with this cake. With some recent good football teams, this year isn't quite as magical as it was 12 years ago, so there'll be no cake this time. But there will be tasty football snacks when Stanford takes on Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl on January 2. It's not only a big bowl game for the #4 ranked Cardinal, but it's a good old-fashioned extended family rivalry, as two of Mary's cousins are freshmen at #3 ranked Oklahoma State. So I say, let the game begin! And . . . . . Happy New Year to all!!!!!
