From Parents' Weekend to Parents' Week

After leaving Stanford, Brad and I did some visiting in Southern California. We started with dinner at the Reckinger's in San Juan Capistrano. Kelle fixed a delicious meal, Bob got some lovely wine (and the basil!), Sarah picked beautiful wildflowers for our room, and after a day of fishing Jack took the world's longest shower but managed to get out in time for dinner. All that was missing was . . . . . Emily and Erin!

Before leaving the next morning, we had lattes and walked with Kelle and Waffles at Dana Point Harbor.

After leaving the Reckingers, we drove to San Diego and had lunch with dear friends from my days at the San Diego City Attorney's Office, John and Carol.

Same day, new town. After lunch in San Diego, we drove up to Rancho Bernardo and met my Aunt Joyce and Uncle Kelly (above), along with my parents, for a Chinese dinner.

Then we spent the next couple of days in Temecula visiting my parents. (Well, I did. Brad left early for some meetings in Los Angeles.) Mom and Dad took us to lunch at their favorite Italian restaurant in Old Town, Palumbo's.

At lunch, Dad showed his Stanford pride in more ways than one. (I wonder if that card can be used to make tuition payments?)

And of course we couldn't leave town without Mom leading a shopping trip to her holy ground, also known as Macy's. She almost disowned me when I dared to buy something at full price, but naturally she was able to plunk down a 20% off coupon, so we were able to avert disaster and family dishonor. And so ended our wonderful week in California!
