The Harrison Weekend

All of the Harrisons are featured in this post about the weekend - which we spent in different places and doing different things, but the great news is how the magic of the internet kept us all connected. On Saturday morning, Brad, Allie, and I walked to breakfast in town. It was a hot morning but we had a nice walk (and a good breakfast).
We brought Allie's water bowl so she could have a sip (or two ….. or three …..) along the way.
When we got home we had a nice Skype call with Mary. Afterwards we did some yard work and Allie was happy to sit in the shade.
Meanwhile a world away in India ….. Mary went to a festival on Saturday with some friends, and they were apparently some of the only Westerners there. This resulted in them being on national TV and in Mary being in the Times of India which, I learned today, is the largest English language newspaper in the world. (Yes, in the world.) For more on her day at the festival, take a look at her blog.
Back in St. Louis ….. Brad and I had tickets to last night's performance of Billy Elliot at our wonderful summer musical theatre in Forest Park, which is called The Muny. But sadly in a battle between Mother Nature and The Theatre, the rain won out and the show was cancelled. This is a picture of the hardier theatre-goers waiting under their umbrellas (which we waited in a covered area). There was a great lightning show going on all this time, so I think these folks were a bit crazy to be sitting out in the wide open.
We made up for it today with a big day outside. Brad and I toured a bunch of gardens at the Sustainable Backyard Garden Tour. We got lots of ideas and inspiration for our future garden. Afterwards we met John, Troy, and Sirius in the Central West End for a lovely outdoor lunch.
Before meeting us, John and Troy took Sirius on a walk in Forest Park. It was hot and he enjoyed cooling off in a little pool.
A bit to the east of us, Peter is taking a short vacation between the end of the school year (yesterday) and the beginning of his summer school job (which starts in a little over a week). He and his friends Ana and Jessa are on their weeklong road trip to visit friends in various parts west. Tonight's stop: Chicago. This is them midway through Ohio.
I got two pictures and couldn't decide which I liked better - glasses on or glasses off. So here you are with both! The only thing that's missing from this photo of Peter and his friends is the sound. And the sound, I can promise you, is the sound of the US-Portugal World Cup game on the radio. That boy loves his soccer.
