Peter's in town for a visit, but I lead off with the dogs. Why, you ask? Well, I'm not sure. I guess it's because they're so cute that they're always a good way to start a story. So ….. as I was saying, Peter's in town for a visit. I was thinking this week was going to be like a "staycation" for us - but I think after it's all over we're going to need a staycation! We've been busy ….. but we've been having lots of fun. (And that includes the dogs.)
For Peter's first full day in town, we decided the best activity was a local beer festival. So the five of us spent much of Sunday in Tower Grove at the St. Louis Craft Beer Week festival. The festival was outdoors, and it was warm and humid. Turns out John and Troy are something of insiders in the local beer scene (don't pretend to be surprised) so they got us under the big tent, which helped a lot with the heat.
Oh, and Sirius came too. And he behaved as gentlemanly as he was dressed.
It was a good time for father and son bonding. (And a chance to rest in the shade!)
Also for mother and sons bonding.
Sirius bonded with this little puppy, who imitated Sirius' manner of lying down. It's cute in the photo but it was absolutely adorable in person. As soon as Sirius went into the syphix pose, so did the puppy. And then he just stared at Sirius with admiration!
Our entire group was a happy one and we had a nice day.
That night the "Original Family" headed over to Sunday trivia night at Llewelyn's in Webster Groves. We were defending our first place trivia title from back when Geneva and Chuck were here. This time we settled for second place. I guess that's what we get for playing trivia after a day of drinking beer.
Monday night everyone was back at our house for a family dinner.
And by everyone, I mean everyone! Mary, on the road back to good health after a little bout of food poisoning, joined us from India thanks to the magic of Skype.Gluttons for punishment, by Tuesday night we were back playing trivia at iTap in Soulard.
This was real trivia - as in really hard. Even with these playas on our team, we didn't even come close to placing. But we had a great time and made a respectable showing. (Excluding the fact that Troy couldn't come up with the answer to the only Catskills question. But shhhh, don't tell her parents.)
Meanwhile, Peter is managing to eat his way through some of St. Louis' finest dining establishments. The latest was a breakfast at the Southwest Diner. He thoroughly approved, as you can see. There's more food and fun ahead - stay tuned!
Looks like a great week! Maybe you could spare a few more minutes a day for Words!
