This weekend Peter and Jessa are in England to celebrate Peter's 30th birthday. The highlight of the trip is on Saturday when they take the train to Liverpool to watch Peter's favorite sports team, Liverpool (Premier League soccer) play Southampton. It was a surprise that Peter didn't know about until Jessa told him on his birthday on Wednesday. They're going to have a couple of days in London and so I thought I'd flash back to our first family trip to London in 1999. We rode the double-decker bus, which always gets a bad rap in any city, but which whenever we've taken it we've always enjoyed. London was no exception. It was a bit chilly up there in November but we got a great overview of the city and we saw and learned a lot. I've no doubt that whether or not they ride the double-decker bus, Peter and Jessa will have a fantastic time on this trip.
