Flashback Friday

On March 31, 2004, the cherry blossoms were in bloom in Motomachi Park in Yokohama, which is where we lived. It's such a pretty time of year in Japan.

Flashback Friday

Today my mom would have turned 90. She wasn't a Harrison, but she loved the Harrisons. And the rest of her family too. The people in this picture were everything to her, and she was everything to us.

Flashback Friday

You know what brought the blog back from its break? The answer is a very important Flashback Friday. One year later, this not-so-little-guy-any-longer is mobile and smiley and social and finding his voice. Happy almost Birthday Owen - you are so loved!

Flashback Friday

Lloyd and Freddie have a red winter coat that they both like to wear. We kept telling them that their dad had a red winter coat at the same age - and here's proof. John at age two and a half in Racine.

Flashback Friday

This was Christmas morning in 2004 when we visited Brad's mom and dad. I was there too but it was before the days of selfies so someone had to be the photographer.

Flashback Friday

Last year's cousin convention was so crazy with sickness that I don't even have a picture of all three of them together. But this year we'll try again, and instead of three we'll have four now that Owen is on the team. We're excited to be in Baltimore and looking forward to a fun week.

Flashback Friday

On December 12, 2004, Mary and her friend Caitlyn posed with a washi project in our kitchen in Yokohama. All these years later they're both working moms but back then they were just seventh graders living in Japan.

Flashback Friday

The men in the family were getting more use out of our family's matching denim shirts at Thanksgiving 1997 in Chicago.

Flashback Friday

Forty years ago this weekend the Posses and Harrisons met up at Chuck and Geneva's house in Covina on Thanksgiving weekend so the families could get to know each other. This is me, Brad, and Geneva at that event.

Flashback Friday

Not yet three years old but just like that Lloyd can be the subject of a Flashback. Here's the birthday guy celebrating his first birthday in Denver with a Harrison birthday tradition, the funfetti cake. This Sunday he'll be the first in the family to celebrate a Minneapolis birthday. Happy 3rd Birthday to Lloyd!

Flashback Friday

On a brisk May day in 1996, I ran my first 5k. Tomorrow I'm running a 10k so I thought it was a good time to look back. The race I ran back then was the Dino Dash in Milwaukee. The kids came to cheer me on and they posed with a race mascot.

Flashback Friday

In November of 2017, we visited Peter and Jessa in Morocco. Our visit to the beautiful blue town of Chefchaouen was memorable.

Flashback Friday

This was Mary's first Halloween in 1992. I'm happy to report that she survived the trauma. By the way, that's 4-year old Peter as Ernie and 2-year old John as Bert.

Flashback Friday

For three falls, we were football parents. John bravely took to the field as a sophomore in high school, without any previous football playing experience. Here he is in his first season, on October 20, 2005. We enjoyed watching each and every game, and were proud of John for all the hard work he put into it.

Flashback Friday

Mary took Owen on his first airplane ride yesterday. Their destination was Stanford, for her 10th college reunion. In 2002, our entire family was at Stanford for Brad's 20th reunion. It's hard to believe she's halfway to her 20th reunion already. Here are the kids on campus 23 years ago this weekend.

Flashback Friday

My photo collage skills don't allow me to show these pictures as completely as I'd like, but you can see that both Freddie and his dad - at around one year older than Freddie is now - have the same taste in vehicles.
