Flashback Friday

This weekend I head to Denver. John and Troy are moving to Minneapolis. Troy starts her job on Tuesday so I'll stay for a few weeks to be an extra set of hands for John, who's staying in Denver with the boys until the end of the month. Today's picture is from January 17, 2019. John and Troy (and Sirius) were heading out the door to move to Fort Collins and start their almost 7 year stay in Colorado. When the time comes for all of them to go to Minneapolis (in around a month), there are two little boys who will now go with them, and thankfully Sirius is still here too.

 In January of 2015 in St. Louis, we could pretend that 9-year old Allie was friends with a young Sirius.

In 2004 we had Christmas at home in Yokohama before we headed to Arizona for the kids' holiday break. If you look closely you can see that Mary's holding everyone's favorite gift that year: a 20gb iPod. Each of them got one with their name engraved on it. I guess in the early years of Apple handheld devices, we thought it was important to differentiate them. I don't remember iPod cases being a thing that early, or if they were we weren't in on it.

This Week in Harrison Grandkids

Freddie turned three months last weekend. This kid is coming on strong! He's tipping the scales. He's getting out and about. And he's looking stylish in his fall outfits. I'm excited to see him next month!

Lloyd and Freddie have started having some bonding time in Freddieville, otherwise known as the space you see here.

All of the grandkids are excellent video chatters, and for that we're grateful. As you can see, Rosie doesn't limit her chatting to humans. She and Tikka had some girl-talk this week.

I'm Totally Burying the Lede

Agnes is one of the two best cared-for cats in Warsaw. And as you can see, the trauma of their long trip over from Philadelphia hasn't left any scars.

The same goes for Lola, the other best-cared for cat in Warsaw. It seems like both koty are adjusting nicely to their new home.

Speaking of adjusting nicely to her new home: Rosie's Tour de Warsaw continues. Last week she went on her first tram ride.

She and Jessa also visited the jewel of Warsaw: Royal Łazienki Park.

Rosie starts daycare next week, which will make her a local - no longer a newcomer. In one of her last Tour de Warsaw stops as a newcomer, she went out for cookies and tea with her mom.

Meanwhile in Denver, Freddie's bulking up. Last week he gained 8 ounces and this week he gained 12 ounces. This preemie is tipping the scales and busting out of his newborn clothes!

Freddie's got his eyes on his big brother. When I see him do that he reminds me a lot of his dad at that age.

Here in Tucson it's all about hummingbirds. We always have some around, but they're migrating through and now we have a lot around. I've gone from filling the feeders every 2-3 weeks to now having to add 4 cups of nectar every day.

In one of our backyard nests we have a couple of hummingbirds babies. 

Wait, did someone say BABIES?! Because yep, there's another Harrison grandbaby on the way! Mary and Andy are expecting and we couldn't be more excited. Due date is March 27! Above is little baby Phelps, making his or her (we'll find out which when s/he arrives) blog debut!

 

More From Denver

Even though we're home from Denver, I have a few more pictures to share. Including one of many that I took of Lloyd on his bike. That boy really likes bikes.

Here's a picture of Freddie doing what he does best: snoozing. Freddie's doing great. During the two weeks we were there he shed his supplemental oxygen and he continued to gain weight. He's over seven pounds, and climbing!

What a sweet guy.

Lloyd likes bikes big and small. In addition to having his own set of wheels, he has a passenger seat on both of their cargo bikes. This was a day when we went to City Park.

On their other cargo bike he got to ride with a fellow passenger for the very first time. He looks skeptical, but we had fun.

He really enjoyed our time at City Park.

So did Freddie. It was his first day at a park, ever! Thanks to Troy he rode in comfort. 

Freddie had his second park outing on a different day when we met the Kidds at a neighborhood park.

We didn't see much of John or Lloyd that day as they were doing this most of the time.

Lloyd would sometimes come down to our apartment to hang out. He liked to sit on the chair and watch the people and dogs.

Speaking of dogs, Sirius may be getting up in age but he still has his priorities as the #1 guarder of babies.

When Freddie isn't snoozing, he can be quite alert. He's a calm baby.

Lloyd likes to help. He and Grandpa cleaned the table one night before dinner. 

Lloyd's also fascinated by laundry. One day he came down to our house and watched the machines wash and dry the clothes.

Even though Lloyd's an active guy, he also likes to read books.

He likes to be independent and isn't a big hand holder, but I'll take what I can get.

It was fun to be neighbors of these two sweet boys and their parents for a couple of weeks.

No sooner had we left than Lloyd started a new adventure: his first day to start his first full school year of daycare. Here he is on day one.
 








 

The One Where Freddie Breaks Out of the NICU

The big news of the week is that Freddie was sprung from the NICU after spending eleven days there. On Tuesday he got discharged from the hospital, three weeks shy of his original due date. He went home with some supplemental oxygen for a bit because, Denver.

We're so excited that he's home.

The day that Freddie came home is the day that Lloyd turned 20 months. They both wear diapers, they both drink from bottles, and they both have pacifiers. These two brothers have a lot in common already!

Speaking of having things in common, friends like these just warms my heart.

Aside from the happenings in Denver, last week Rosie had a staycation in Gettysburg with her Boehner family. And she's getting ready for their big moving day, which is coming up soon on Wednesday.

Meanwhile in Baltimore, Tikka was once more reminded that being a black dog on a hot and humid summer day is not the best thing to be. I'm told a long morning walk in a park pooped her out for the entire rest of the day.

Here in Tucson we've enjoyed rain almost every night this week, and gorgeous mornings.
 

Baltimore Week

Brad and I arrived in Baltimore last weekend. We've been enjoying a week of visiting with Mary and Andy. Last Sunday we celebrated Father's Day with a lovely brunch on the water.

On Monday while Andy was at work, the three of us went to Fort McHenry. I've been there lots of times before but never to the museum. As you can see, it was a bit windy.

Other activities in Baltimore have been hanging out with Tikka .....

..... hanging out with Mary and Andy .....

..... going out for ice-cream .....

..... and enjoying the views. This was sunset last night as seen from Mary and Andy's rooftop deck.

And this was the Inner Harbor this morning from a water taxi. Tomorrow we head to Philadelphia. Mary and Andy are coming with us and they'll stay for a night before returning here on Saturday and getting ready to head off a few days after that for their delayed honeymoon trip to Costa Rica.
