Freddie

Frederick Charles Bedik-Harrison has arrived! Freddie was born early, on July 12. Even though he was more than a month ahead of schedule, Freddie weighed a hefty 5 pounds, 14 ounces. Freddie started life with an IV port, a CPAP, supplemental oxygen, and a feeding tube. While he's bulking up, he's spending some time in the NICU.

I'm happy to report that Freddie had shed all of his accessories, except for his feeding tube. In the meantime, he's showing that he's good at breast feeding and before long he'll wean himself from his feeding tube too.

Big brother Lloyd, who is age 19 1/2 months, came to the hospital to spend some time with Mom and Dad.

Troy has been discharged but she's still spending most of her time at the hospital so she can nurse Freddie. Lloyd comes over for snuggling time.

Rosie Update

The latest on Rosie is that she and her parents went home from the hospital on Sunday. Jessa's doing well and so is baby Rosie.

Rosie already has more hair than her dad and a noggin in the 83rd percentile. We can't wait to meet Rosie on her one month birthday, and of course to see her parents too!

Rosie Has Arrived!

On Friday, June 2, Peter and Jessa welcomed Rosalie James Harrison. We are so excited about this sweet little girl.

Rosie was born at 4:56 a.m. and weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces. I'm happy to report that baby Rosie and Jessa are both doing well!

I wrote this blog post last week, and almost a week later I just realized it didn't get posted. I don't know what happened, but it gives me a chance to add some more pictures. Here is Peter cutting the umbilical cord.

Rosie trying to get some shuteye in the hospital.

And Rosie all swaddled and looking very much like a Boehner.

Flashback Friday

This is a Flashback Friday for the record books. What do I mean by that? Well, I'm stretching the rules a bit as I'm flashing back to exactly two days ago. This is because two days ago was the day that our first grandchild, Lloyd Troy Bedik-Harrison, was born. Young Lloyd was born shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Troy had a hard time of it with 36 hours of labor and over 4 hours of pushing before she delivered by C-section. But Lloyd was safely delivered and although Troy is recovering from a C-section, everyone is healthy. John has been living in Troy's room with her and Lloyd as they're not scheduled to be discharged until tomorrow. Lloyd is named for Troy's dad, whose name was Lloyd Troy Bedik and who passed away almost exactly two years ago. We are in Philadelphia spending Thanksgiving with Peter and Jessa and Mary and Andy. So we were all together when we got the news about Lloyd's birth and we've had many phone calls, Facetimes, and texts with John and Troy. We would all have loved to be there, but being together in these first few days was the next best thing. Brad and I have plans to spend two weeks in Denver the second half of December. We can't wait to meet Lloyd and to see John and Troy.
