Today was the State Debate Tournament in Wilton, Connecticut. About one third of the kids who participate in the Connecticut Debate Association made it to State, including Mary and five of her teammates. (Her school had one varsity debate team and two novice teams at State. They are in the picture above, along with two of their three coaches.) At the end of the day, she and her teammate placed 16th overall and her individual score was 11th overall. (The topic of today's debate was whether public sector employees should be allowed to collectively bargain, and all of the supporting data was from Wisconsin.) She's had a great two years as a debater at Nonnewaug, and we are really proud of our great debater!
