Yesterday we got outside in the beautiful sunshine and warmer temperatures and got started in the yard.
Brad discovered these crocuses on the north side of the house. We didn't even know they were there, so it was a nice surprise. And the daffodils on the south side of the house are almost ready to pop.
This is what you call landfill. When we had a torrential rainfall this spring, the runoff coming down our street and then down our driveway created this fill of sand and rock.
After all the snow we had this winter, I found it remarkable that there were still a few flowers left on this hydrangea bush.
But then look at what the snow did to the wetlands behind our house. It's really tamped down flat - much more so than it was last year.
To give you an idea of how far (close) the wetlands is from our house, after I took the above picture, I turned around and took this one of the back of the house.
Of course, Allie was our helper all afternoon. This picture is to demonstrate rare obedience on her part. Notice that the fence is open, but Allie knows not to walk through the opening. And for her next trick . . . . .
It's Allie the Amazing Stick Composting Dog. As fast as we can cut off branches, she chews them to shreds. Amazing!
I am sorry about this one but I couldn't resist. This is the tennis ball that she kept bringing to us to throw. Now I will think twice the next time she wants to give me a kiss.
