More Catching Up

This morning I was walking Allie by the Split Rail, a local breakfast spot, when I ran into my book club's leader, Cherie, and her husband, Mark.  Cherie asked me how my summer's been going, and I told her the thing that was on the top of my mind, namely, that this week I've gotten to see two friends whom I haven't seen in ages.  Last night I was in Amherst, Massachusetts, and had dinner with Terri, who is from Racine. We've known each other since our sons - both named Peter - became friends when they were three years old.  Terri is at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst this week for a professional conference, and it was wonderful to catch up with her.  After dinner we walked around Amherst College on a hot but beautiful summer night.  Inside the Robert Frost Library, we found a friendly student working the front desk who took our photo.
