Mary Harrison, College Student

Yesterday was freshman move-in day at Stanford . . . .

Checking into her dorm at 8:00 a.m. sharp, Mary got her room and roommate assignment, mailbox key, and school ID. All the RAs from her dorm shouted her name when she walked up to the table. They had memorized them all ahead of time. Pretty cool!

I think this definitely makes it official!

After months of wondering who her roommate would be . . . . here she is!

Move-in day was also bike registration day.

The room was a daylong project, involving all the expected unpacking and putting things away, as well as one last trip to Bed Bath & Beyond. Hanging mementos from home made it look more like Mary's room.

By the end of the day the room looked pretty good!

The weather was spectacular and the campus was so pretty! Everyone was so friendly, cheerful, and helpful.

Toward the end of the day we headed over toward Memorial Church for the convocation ceremony, which took place on the Quad in blazing sunlight.

Then back to the dorm for a "say goodbye to your parents" meeting. From there, Brad and I went to a parents' dinner and Mary went off to eat with her dormmates and to start four amazing years.

  1. I just have to know, did you cry? Come on, be truthful?
