What's to be more excited about this morning ..... a Wisconsinite on a presidential ticket or our unexpected outdoor guests? This morning we were greeted by a few very active Downy Woodpeckers. The bird books tell us they are a "common" bird, but they aren't common for us so we were pretty happy to see them. They were busy flitting around and spent at least 10 minutes in all different places on and around the deck. They weren't shy either, as they didn't seem to mind when we stood at the windows and looked at them (and took pictures).
Without a doubt, Allie thought the woodpeckers were more interesting than the Paul Ryan news.
