Flashback Friday
This is Peter and one of our kids' great-grandmothers (Brad's mom's mom), known affectionately by all as Gan-Gan. Today would have been her 105th birthday. This picture was taken in December of 2000 in Phoenix when we were there for Christmas, and it was the last time we saw Gan-Gan before she died the following August. I chose this picture because so much is happening in it that reminds me of her: she's got her hand on Peter's leg (she always used to pat people on the leg), she's looking at a photo, and she's got a cup of coffee (scalding hot for sure) on a paper plate that's resting on her leg. (At this very moment I find myself hoping it doesn't spill.) What you can't really tell from this picture is what a special person Gan-Gan was. She was interested in so many things, she loved to be around people, she had a good sense of humor, and she had vitality right up until the very end of her life. I'm so glad our kids were given the time to have such a special person in their lives. Happy Birthday Gan-Gan!
