When the kids were growing up and taking piano lessons, we were constantly badgering them with the daily question, "did you practice piano?" We meant this literally, but it (along with the other daily question, "did you brush your teeth?") has become a catch-phrase in our house for "did you do what you were supposed to do?" Fast forward 15 years ..... and I'm happy to report that yesterday Peter got some fantastic news. He has been accepted to DC Teaching Fellows for next school year. Over the course of the year, he'll student teach in a DC public school and at the same time do the coursework necessary to get his teaching certification in elementary education. The program is highly competitive and it's a feather in his cap to have been selected; we are so very proud of Peter not just for getting in, but for his choice of profession. So the way I see things ..... all that piano practicing ..... made for a good foundation. Way to go, Peter!
