Mary goes back to school tomorrow, bringing to a close the last week of all the spring breaks of 2011. (Next up: graduation season!)This was the week to find a prom dress. We did some shopping in Connecticut earlier in the week, then headed to Boston on Friday. This is Mary in Boston. She found the perfect dress rather quickly, which gave us time to treat ourselves to some shopping at (you guessed it) The Container Store. It's one of my favorites. Mary had never been there before (she leads such a sheltered life), and now I think she's hooked!
After shopping, we headed over to Tufts for dinner with John. (Thanks to John's friend Judah for taking the picture.) John told us that next weekend at Tufts' spring festival his rather large shock of hair will get sculpted into a mohawk. (Or, as he has threatened, a double mohawk). I am rather confident that by the next time we see him, that mohawk will have transformed itself into a buzz cut. I just hope I get to see a picture of the mohawk. (Hint hint.)
Then yesterday, Mary and I went down to New Haven to watch her friend Mayya play rugby in a 3-team round robin. Going to watch college rugby on a spring day in theory sounds like a good idea. But when the weather turns out to be rainy, windy, and in the 40s, it becomes much less of a good idea. Although, at least we were covered up. Just watching those girls on the field, diving and rolling in the mud and puddles, made me feel even colder. And by the time they got done, that poor field was a wreck.
Here is Mayya's team (Amherst, in purple) on the field vs. MIT. We didn't stay to watch them play Yale. This is because we were sissies and wanted to go somewhere to get warm. Those girls on the field were anything BUT sissies. I still can't believe how cold it was and how totally wet and muddy they got.
And I also still can't believe that less than 24 hours after we froze watching rugby, we had Easter brunch outside on the deck! What a difference a day makes! Happy Easter!
