And here is that cabbage (which, I later realized, weighed in at a whopping 4 3/4 pounds! thankyouverymuch) post-roasting. I owe a kudos to Ms. Martha Stewart for a recipe that would never have occurred to me: cut the cabbage into 1" rounds, spray with oil, garnish with seasonings of your choice, and roast in a 400 degree oven for 30-40 minutes. Delicious!

New From the Garden
Yippee ...... it's our first cabbage EVER!!! And some gorgeous Swiss Chard. And the last of the lettuce. (But I've planted more.) And ..... four surviving tomatoes (and the first tomato harvest of the year). We would have had more tomatoes, but the other day I went to check on them and virtually ALL of the cherry tomatoes below a level of four feet off the ground were GONE. Some detective work by me and Brad made us realize that we had been invaded by DEER!!! How DARE they! Don't they know we have an attack dog? (And a deer fence - how did THAT happen?) So ..... these four little tomatoes will be cherished in tonight's salad. And hopefully some Milorganite will deter any future creatures who dare to tread into our garden.
