The Pie Sums It Up

After a week in Woodbury, the house is packed, the goodbyes are said, and today I am off to Saint Louis. Last night, after four long days, the movers finally headed West, and I went to Dottie's Diner for my last dinner in town. By then I had said goodbye to all of my friends and I was ready to be alone to take in a few deep breaths and to feel thankful for our time in Woodbury. I surprised myself by ordering the Grasshopper Mocha Pie for dessert, and it did not disappoint. While savoring my piece of pie, I thought about our time in Woodbury and I realized it is quite similar to this pie - simple on the outside and exceeding expectations on the inside. Leaving people with whom I feel such connectedness makes me sad on the one hand, but it makes me feel on the other hand that our time here was time well spent. As always I very much do not like to leave such wonderful friends. But I also feel blessed to have had them in my life, and to get to continue to do so. It's the story of my life ..... and even though every time we leave it's hard ..... I do realize it's not such a bad story to have.
