Meeting Me In Saint Louis

So many plates, so little time to blog. So sayeth I. Sayeth, you say? Since when does Sue sayeth? And what exactly is she talking about? Let me explain.

My sister Kathy and our niece Lauren came to visit the other day, en route from Denver to Maryland, where Lauren is spending the summer interning with NASA. (They brought us the beautiful plates above.) On their first night here, John and Troy came over for dinner. John led everyone in a beer lesson. (Did you expect anything less?) For their part, Kathy and Lauren brought some Colorado beer for John and Troy to add to their beer knowhow.

And Kathy signaled her approval with a smile.

As did Lauren and I.

After the beer session, we all enjoyed dinner on the patio. (Allie too.)

The next day we had lunch with our family friend, Susan, who hadn't seen Kathy for almost 30 years. Needless to say, we had a really good time.

The afternoon gave us a chance to enjoy a visit to the Saint Louis Zoo.

And evening brought a chance to enjoy dinner together at John McGurk's, an Irish restaurant that's a couple of blocks from John and Troy's house.

Same picture only with Troy in the role of photographer. This is because I failed to find a kind stranger to take a picture of all five of us together. (I'm slipping!) Speaking of which, what was I meaning when I said at the beginning that I had so little time to blog? I suppose it's that we had such a good time together it took me until the visit was almost over to share it with all of you. (Though thanks to the magic of texting Kathy has been keeping certain of you current with photos.) Tomorrow Kathy and Lauren drive to Maryland (and I fly out to California). They're having dinner with Peter over the weekend, so don't be surprised if you see more of them on the blog in the coming days. (This is an explicit and somewhat public hint to all parties involved to send me pictures!)
