Philosophizing in San Diego

This afternoon Brad and I fly home to Saint Louis. Although our time here has been a week of work for Brad, we've both managed to enjoy our short stay in San Diego. Our four days here on Mission Bay have been peaceful and relaxing. We've had some good food, spent time with some good people (see above), gotten some good exercise, had some time for good talks and good reflection, and we leave with a feeling of thanks for a good life and a healthy and happy family. You get the point: life is good. Okay, enough reflection. Now a few scenes from the week.

Considering it's the month for "June gloom," we still had our fair share of sun this week. I got to go kayaking and try standup paddle boarding. (The operative word being "try.") I do not recommend a first such outing on a windy afternoon!

There are so many pretty flowers on the grounds, like this day lily.

The water is from a sprinkler but it's just as pretty as if it were from dew or rain.

More day lilies after being sprinkled.

As I sat here typing this post, I had to shut our door as this duck seemed to be intent on walking right in.

It's hard not to be philosophic when sitting out here on a quiet morning after returning from a nice long walk with Brad. Soon it's back to reality, but I'll go with home feeling thankful for some time away to recharge.
