Flashback Friday

When we lived in Wisconsin, our friend John Vanderslice would drive over to visit when he was in Dubuque, Iowa to visit family or to attend class reunions. John and I became friends when we worked together in San Diego. Our family was treated to three visits from John, and this was his second time in Racine, when he and his wife Sharon were at our duplex on Charles Street in November of 1994. Reading was John's favorite pasttime, and he spent some time that day reading to the kids.  As you can see, in this picture he and Mary shared a good laugh. John passed away at their home in Washington State early this year. He was a work friend for three years, but he was a personal friend for over 35 years. I'm thankful for such a longterm friend, and for pictures that bring back happy memories.
