John Harrison, Archvillain

It started as a dark and stormy Sunday. What better thing to do than go to Costco and then to the movies? Or so we thought.

Costco as always was filled with opportunity. Our DVD player (the first one we ever bought and the only one we've ever owned) recently broke so we went there to replace it. I learned that in the year 2013 an inexpensive DVD player will allow us to stream video on our TV. I always assumed we'd need a whole new TV to do that. (John thought I was joking when I said this.) It's true. I'm not exactly up on current technology.

John and Troy were very interested in the chest freezer selection. Now they know where to go to get the most important part for their future kegerator.

Soda, paper towels, potato chips, coffee ..... and the list goes on. We filled our cart!

Next stop: the dine-in movie theatre. (With fully reclining chairs!) It's always a treat to go.

And what did we see? At Peter's insistence, we saw the new Star Trek movie. He wouldn't tell me why he insisted we go, but as soon as the evil villain was identified in the movie, we all instantly knew. The villain's name? John Harrison! After my initial surprise, it continued to take me aback whenever Captain Kirk spoke his name with venom in his voice. (I heard the name John Harrison called a bastard - and other assorted names - more than I'd like.) Having such a familiar name spoken so many times made the movie a bit more colorful, but the next time I see a film with a villain in it, I hope its name isn't Peter, John, or Mary Harrison!
